SEO copywriting should have continuity

Continuity is key in writing copy for SEO purposes; as it can improve Google rankings.

That’s according to Karon Thackston, writing for PromotionWorld.com; who claimed that writing for website optimisation “has become a fundamental principle of seo marketing.”

In order to achieve the continuity so praised by Thackston, there are a few things writers and web masters must consider before beginning to develop a piece.

The expert claimed taking it “one step at a time” was the best way forward. She added: “Create a plan before you write pages. Where will the site visitor come from? What’s the first exposure to your site?”“If the title tag captures their attention, where will they look for more information?” she asked prospective writers. “When they click through to your web page, how will they know they are in the right place?”

These are all areas to consider before going ahead and creating the content, Thackston said. By doing this, writers and website masters can create a “clear path” for prospects.

Fellow industry expert, Kendall Allen, also recently wrote of the struggles faced by copywriters and online journalists in creating content that both adheres to journalistic policy and is well-optimised. She argued in Media Post: “The new reality of dually having to consider both editorial and search optimisation poses great internal conflict.”

What is SEO?

SEO or known as search engine optimization is used to optimize web pages or websites to specific keywords or phrases that web page or website wants to be associated with.

Lets look at a website called www.seo-engine-optimization.co.uk as you can see it is already stating in its domain name what the website wants to be associated with which are SEO keywords or phrases.

So far this website has eleven pages and each page has a clean or a friendly url which means keeping your domain name pages simple and to the point such as:

http://www.seo-engine-optimization.co.uk/services/search-engine-optimisation This enables the search engines robots to identify what this page should be associated with. This should also follow through to the description of the page focusing on one topic which is "search engine optimisation"

Also title's meta tags and descriptions come in to play but I will go into that another time.

So over all if you are trying to optimize your website keep each url clean and to the point, and make sure that the  content also matches the url's description of the page.

New search engine Blekko changes how we search for things on the internet

A new Internet search engine which relies on recommendations from other users has been launched and hailed as a ‘Google killer’. Blekko filters out poor quality and irrelevant websites which its founders claim have overrun the web and dominate search engine results. It works by using humans to pre-select the most useful sites on key topics and then limit searches to those alone. So-called ‘content farm' websites which are manufactured to score highly on searches but have little real information will be weeded out, as will pornography and spam.
According to Blekko’s founder Rich Skrenta to goal is no less than to ‘clean up web search and get all the spam out of it’. On Blekko users can search using a word such as ‘global warming’ and come up with results as per usual. Where it differs is with the use of ‘slashtags’, or different words separated by a slash. If a user searches ‘global warming / green’ it would bring up only environmental websites to do with green groups or issues.
Similarly a search for ‘Paris Hilton /noporn’ would avoid any pornographic websites associated with the Hilton heiress.

Slashtags can be combined for more accuracy so a search like ‘global warming / date / technology’ which would bring up web pages about global warming and technology companies ranked by date.
Blekko's 8,000 'curators' have made hundreds of slashtags already and users are encouraged to make more of their own. The idea is that, in a similar way to Wikipedia, users will add and edit search results, chopping irrelevant choices here and keeping relevant ones there. As such, users can apply to be editors as well as share their comments and feedback.

Defining mobile search engine optimisation

Mobile search engine optimisation (SEO) is something websites and businesses are becoming increasingly concerned with, but one expert has asked what such campaigns actually involve.Source:
According to Michael Martin of Mobile Martin, writing in a post for ClickZ, mobileSEO is a combination of tailoring sites to appear in both mobile search engines, as well as on various handsets.
Noting that there is more emphasis on location-based results in mobile search, he stresses that having a local SEO strategy is even more important in mobile strategies than in standard SEO campaigns.
Meanwhile, the way in which sites are rendered also affects a site's rank on mobile search, therefore companies must cater for the quirks of different devices in order to retain a high position.
"Mobile SEO should be a matter of increasing visibility of your website, not only in mobile search engines but on the actual mobile and often touch-enabled devices themselves," comments Mr Martin.
The arrival of Google Places has also placed greater emphasis on local results in standard searches. In a post for Search Engine Watch, Jon Schepke of SIM Partners stressed that companies may need to re-evaluate their SEO campaigns to ensure they are optimised for the local.
